Chinese junk, oil painting on silk, for the European export market. 19th century, restored and relined.  The junk has Important Chinese officials on board, in chase of a European privateer, possibly checking their cargo for the right paperwork.  There was an illegal importing of opium into China at the time by the East India Company .
