Original frame and backboards. Circa 1780          J S Sullivan was the son of Lawrence Sullivan, Chairman of the court of directors of the East India Company. In 1781 he was given a contract for the “provision of opium” by Warren Hastings which he assigned John Ben for a lot money to export opium to China. Lots of jiggery pokery going on. Quite a flamboyant gentleman indeed.
